Apparently, Sony Santa Monica is cooking up something for the newly released PlayStation 4, and while we are yet to receive any solid word on what exactly it is, it seems like the company’s latest job listing details a few in-game features, like open world.
Sony Santa Monica, currently known for lending a helping hand in the development of The Order: 1886, has posted a brand new job listing for recruiting a senior level designer for what seems to be the company’s newest open world IP in the offering.
Apart from the new job listing itself, there are also some other details on the yet-to-be-named unnamed project which may give fans a slight hint of on what to expect from the upcoming IP.
The recruitment page states that eligible candidates will be involved in the creation of "ambient gameplay and side-missions," both being flagship features for the new IP.
Additonally, the post also throws references to "navigation and platforming challenges", alongside "fun artificial intelligence layouts". While it’s not much to follow up on, it’s still pretty interesting to know what the company plans to deliver via its new game if it indeed sees the light of the day.
These required criteria are as follows:
-open world level design
-ambient gameplay and side missions
-navigation/platforming challenges
-building 3D environments
-modeling and texturing
-designing and implementing fun/challenging AI layouts
-scripting entities
-placing rough cameras, including animated and entity-triggered cameras
-sound implementation
-level warping and gameflow
-cinematic placement and triggering
While we may debate on what the in-game content of the new IP will be, the company’s hunt for a senior level designer in this matter comes after it was revealed back in October that Sony Santa Monica had stopped working on God of War: Ascension and had moved on to other projects, such as The Order: 1886.
“As of today, we will not be producing any more DLC content (maps, weapons, armors, marks) for God of War: Ascension Multiplayer, as our primary team resources start to transition to other projects here at Sony Santa Monica,” Community Strategist Aaron Kaufman wrote at the time.
Sony’s latest next-gen PlayStation 4 console was released this November and is currently available for retail.
