Pokémon Merchandise Takes an Odd Twist With Pokémon Panties

Pokémon Panties Are the Best Spot for Your Poké Balls

In the Pokémon franchises long and illustrious existence, we've seen a slew of merchandise. Some normal, like magazines, shirts, posters, movies, and most obviously, games. But we've also seen some that border on the bizarre - a Pikachu volkswagon bug, picture frames, even seaweed. But when you start designing underwear featuring pocket monsters, you're getting pretty damn close to taking the cake. Hell, the jokes alone almost write themselves.

Despite God only knows how many innuendo puns there are to be made, someone on Etsy has taken to selling Pokémon themed ladies underwear - Poké-panties, if you will. This has apparently been going on since the summer, and it's caught on enough with fans that the makers are struggling to keep up with the demand. I can't tell if this is an actual product, or a big goof, but given some of the weird items you can find on Etsy, coupled with the even more bizarre world of certain categories and sub-sections of anime, it certainly seems plausible.

$20 is all it'll take for you to turn your fair maiden's keester into looking like the back end of Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle (resist the urge to make a pun, RESIST), or Charmander. Feel free to catch 'em all.

While your old lady might judge you for asking her to throw on some of these skivvies, I'm not here to judge. Different strokes for different folks.

Given the items' appearance on Etsy, the panties obviously aren't licensed by Nintendo, but as the listing is still up, the execs don't seem to be aware of it. That, or maybe they've been bribed with a few pairs.

The creator, Makers Way, also offers up Tetris themed panties and Minecraft inspired pillows. Maybe they'll do eventually do the entire Pokédex, now THAT would be a catalog, as well as a challenge. With Pokémon X and Y's release last month, the total count of tiny creatures has jumped into the 700's. Given the games' rave reviews and great sales numbers, I'd say that Makers Way has found an excellent niche.

For those of you playing catch up, Pokémon X and Y
represent a radical change for the franchise, the top down perspective having been replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, players will see several new pokémon, 5 of which were teased in the game's trailer at the time of the announcement. There's the usual array of new starter Pokémon, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokémon. And what's more, a number of classic Pokémon have earned mega-evolutions they can transform into during battle.

Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda's recently revealed that since launch, over ten million of the little monsters have been exchanged since the game launched. It's also reported by Nintendo Life that Masuda expressed interest in making more Mega Evolutions.

No DLC is planned for the games.
