Netflix just recently announced the download availability of their shows on mobile devices that have been awaited for a long time. Now Netflix updates its video encoding to improve the quality of videos downloaded by their avid viewers.
According to Engadget, it is a fact that Netflix, being watched in numerous platforms, continuously upgrades its system of video encoding for their clients. Now Netflix is said to focus on the improving the efficiency of compression of the video on the Netflix apps for mobile devices. Currently, Netflix is using Google VP9 on some of its platforms including Android devices, while H.264/AVC High profile for iOS and other platforms.
According to Variety Netflix aims to apply the best setting on varied parts of each video, it is said that these will range between 1-3 minutes in length. Netflix revealed that Google's VP9 technology will reduce bitrate by 36 percent, which means that it will visually look good on your phone. Additionally, this type of technology used in Netflix will also ensure a lower data from your mobile device and lesser space for storage.The new Netflix encode is now rolling out as an upgrade for download feature, it will be released on mobile device streaming in the nearest future.
