“Wolverine” actor Hugh Jackman posted on Thursday a photo of actor Richard Grant on Twitter, accompanied by a cryptic caption that indicates the role of Grant in a forthcoming Marvel movie. Hugh Jackman tweeted: “Rice. Logan. 3.3.17.” Is he joining the upcoming "Logan" movie?
Movieweb notes that Hugh Jackman just confirmed the role that Richard Grant would play on the forthcoming 20th Century Fox film “Logan” slated to premiere on March 3, 2017. The character, Dr. Zander Rice, is one of the creators of X-23, a female mutant clone, in the original Marvel comics where his father is a member of the original Weapon X program.

The “trigger scent” that Zander Rice helped develop resulted in X-23 going berserk in a killing mode. Before Hugh Jackman confirmed Zander Rice’s character in “Logan,” there was also a rumor that he was included in the post-credit scene in “X-Men Apocalypse” as an unseen character that walked through the massacre caused by Logan prior to his picking a blood vial with the mark “Wolverine.”
Since what was seen was just the hand, it does not remove the possibility it was Zander Rice who got the vial. A photo released in November could explain the origin of X-23 since the picture showed the device used to inject the mutant powers of Wolverine into X-23. Among the cast of “Logan” that created buzz was Dafne Keen, the actress who played Lauren Kinney, or X-23, which reviewer K.M. Trendacosta described as badass. “She has a fight that you won’t believe someone that young can do,” K.M. Trendacosta tweeted.
