"Pokemon Sun and Moon" might be remarkable games, but they are not difficult. That is one reason why one player crafted an ROM hack that amplifies the difficulty up to brutal levels.
GBA Temp user Kobazco has developed a hack that makes the main story campaign a brutal and unforgiving experience. Kobazco has called the more difficult versions "Pokemon Rising Sun and Pokemon Waning Moon." This version and some of the modifications are absolute cruel.
For starters, all Trial Captains and Kahunas now have jam-packed teams of Pokemon, making their fights much more difficult. Also, the level curve of Pokemon as they appear has been raised significantly. This means trainers will more likely find themselves waking up back at the nearest Pokemon Center after meeting many of Alola's most powerful Pokemon. Kobazco said that players will need teams of Pokemon that are at the minimum around level 80 by the completion of the Elite 4.
Aside from this, in Kobazco's hack, Alolan trainers have also been modified to possess Pokemons that are not usually visible in the Alola region. This way, players will be forced to change their strategies and be sharp when attempting to abuse weaknesses. This is because players tend to forget typing during the best times. But Alola has several Pokemons who have switched typing thanks to their Alola regional variants. Most of the time, players will find themselves thrown off the games than the usual reported by Kotaku.
Kobazco's hack should provide the kind of dreadful, frustrating experience that Pokemon has unfailingly and accurately shied away from in the main Pokemon series. It sounds like a brutal trail through some of the Pokemon series' most exasperating mechanics. Probably that is part of the appeal to the type of trainer who wanted this. For others who prefer the usual, they can stay away and keep the frights to reading rumors about Mimikyu's origin instead.
