Ah, yes. The Steam sale. That magical time when gamers across the globe get a bandit's share of games at gloriously discounted prices. It's like the Black Friday for gamers, minus having to interrupt your turkey time and risk getting trampled by stampeding soccer moms. While Valve hasn't offered any official details, a supposedly leaked e-mail has clued fans in on when the yearly sales are set to begin, and conclude.
Treat it as a rumor, but it seems that a leaked e-mail from Valve to a developer has clued us in on the sales' exact dates, meaning you probably shouldn't expect to see his game listed in the sale, or on Steam for that much longer. Ah well, the developer's sacrifice is our gain, right?
Here's the important points from the e-mail:
"The Annual Steam Holiday Sales are almost here!
Confidential: The Steam Autumn Sale will run from Wednesday, Nov 27 until Tuesday, Dec 3. The Steam Holiday Sale will run from Thursday, December 19 until Thursday, January 2nd. Please DO NOT make the dates of the Sales public...Because the two sales occur just a few weeks apart, we plan to maintain the same discounts from one sale to the other."
This Reddit thread was the source of the leak, where another user insisted that the e-mail is legitimate, saying, "Unfortunately to Valve and others, the screenshot is real and it is not a fake. The screenshot was taken by a Russian developer who has a page on Steam Store (and whose game has been Greenlit some time ago). It was posted on a couple of forums. He also sent one of the copies to me (because I'm the chief editor of the Steam public page on VK.com so he wanted me to publish it)."
You can see more details from a shot of the supposed e-mail here. Valve has yet to verify the details of the e-mail, but we'll keep you posted if they provide any comment on the matter.
