The biggest question in the minds of followers of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is who are the parents of Rey? For actress Daisy Ridley who plays Rey, the soon-to-be released movie would provide the answer.
She said there is already an answer to that mystery after she and some friends watched an advance screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” After the screening, she was having a drink with her agent and others who watched the film which they discussed. Daisy Ridley noticed, based on their talk, that those who just saw the movie did not realize they had seen the answer to the question of her parentage, Gizmodo reports.
Is Luke Skywalker Her Father?
Among the theories is that Luke Skywalker is the father of Rey. A male fan asked her while having taking a groupie, “Is Luke your dad?” She replied, “Chill out, you’ll see.” Based on her reply, Esquire wrote that Luke Skywalker is Daisy Ridley’s father which would be confirmed or debunked when “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hits the theaters on Dec. 18.
Who Is Rey’s Mother?
However, it only answers half of the mystery of Rey’s ancestry because the identity of her mother is not answered in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Esquire notes that in past movies, the only scene that features Luke Skywalker kissing a woman was when Princess Leia initiated a torrid kiss in “The Empire Strikes Back.” However, in “Return of the Jedi,” it was revealed they were siblings.
But for Gizmodo, Daisy Ridley’s reply only implies but does not directly answer who her parents are. It said the likely suspects are Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker whom fans of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” would finally know on Dec. 18. Ironically, in real life, Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, admitted recently that in 1976, while filming the movie in London, she and Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo, had an on-and-off affair, The Telegraph reports.
