Xbox One Release Date, Specs, Games, Price, Tech: On Standby Mode, Console to Boot Faster Than Your TV Claims Microsoft

Microsoft's Xbox One Will Have Added Power in Standby Mode to Quicken Up Boot Time

With the highly anticipated release date for Microsoft’s next generation Xbox One console right around the corner, it seems like the Redmond-based company is still revealing some interesting details about the console. Recently, it was revealed that apparently the Xbox One will take a really short time to boot, and as Microsoft claims, the console will boot faster than the TV it is connected to.

The new information came by way of Microsoft’s Director of Product Planning for the Xbox One, Albert Penello, who took some time to field questions about the new console on Reddit. “There are basically three states," Penello responded to one question. "On, Off and Standby. On is On. Off is Off. Standby allows "Xbox On", quick resume, checking for updates, etc. This is the mode we'd like to see people in, obviously, so you get back to gaming or watching TV really quick. From standby, it's likely the Xbox will be on before the TV is completely powered up.”

The Standby Mode allowing a low power mode to keep the console on to allow for quick bootup is in tune with a number of console developers trying to achieve that for a long time. However, it will be seen as to how efficiently Microsoft attains what it has claimed to deliver with the new console.

While this may not seem that big a deal to most (although still a big thing for avid gamers), it’s actually refreshing to know that the Xbox One will actually boot up faster than its predecessors. Also, as far as product popularity and financial numbers are concerned, the consoles boot up time may come into consideration when the console pits itself against the likes of Sony’s PlayStation 4.

A lot of information has been revealed via Reddit for the Xbox One in the recent past. The last time the console popped up there was when it was revealed that all the all the previous claims about a buggy OS for the console were rubbish.

“It's like Xbox One has become Britney Spears back when every part of her life was under constant surveillance by the media\paparazzi. Every detail, relevant or not, could be taken, fed, digested through social media, and emerge as a complete new beast over the span of a day,” the concerned developer stated that time.

Microsoft's Xbox One is currently set for a Nov. 22, 2013 release, and will retail for $499.
