Fans have been anticipating DreamWorks' "How To Train Your Dragon 3" franchise after the huge success of the first and second installments. Empire Online recalls that the third installment was promised within a two-year time frame. However, expectations once again weren't met when the much-anticipated release was pushed to 2017 and then 2018.
And just recently, Universal Pictures announced that "How To Train Your Dragon 3" release date will be pushed further to 2019. According to Hollywood Reporter, the release date delay is another clear manifestation of the consequences that will hurt Universal Picture's acquisition of DreamWorks Animations.
With its new release date schedule, "How To Train Your Dragon 3" potential competition now include "Captain Marvel" and "Godzilla 2", both films originally scheduled to debut in 2019.
On a more positive note, speculations claim that the delay was a wise move. The extended release date will give "How To Train Your Dragon 3" director Dean DeBlois ample time to carefully plan and create the third installment that can match, if not exceed the success of the first two offerings.
Reports suggest that even if fans of "How To Train Your Dragon 3" have to endure a total of five long years to see Hiccup, Toothless and the rest of the dragon and dragon riders gang, it'll be definitely worth the wait.
