With the growing technology of today, many have suggested that in the future world,flying cars would somehow exist. Indeed, it's now slowly coming to reality with the recent invention of a German-based company.
Lilium Aviation, a German-based company, has just released its invention of flying cars. The company was backed up by Atomico, a European venture firm, which invested 10 million euros.
Lilium Aviation is established in 2015 by four aerospace engineers and product designers from Technical University of Munich (TUM). It launched with support from intergovernmental organization European Space Agency's Business Incubation Centre in Bavaria, where it's housed.
The LiliumJet(Lilium's flying car) is a capsule-shaped two-passenger pod that is powered by 36 electric fans mounted along the wings and front end of the aircraft. Hence, it's built to ferry commuters into and around the city.
Moreover, Futurism confirmed in its report that "the company's current prototype is the forth in a line of attempts. It boasts a lightweight frame that has a take-off weight of around 600 kilograms with a maximum payload of 200 kilograms." It'll be able to fly by using VTOL technology, which is also seen in some military fighter jets.
Tech Crunch even added that "VTOL technology has actually been around for decades (and historically has not been the safest), but Munich-based Lilium is touting their tech as being a far safer, cleaner and more societally friendly update."
Not only that, Lilium Aviation expects Lilium Jet to have a range of roughly 300 kilometers and fly at 300 kilometers per hour. It'll do its full-scale test of the flights next year, but is not certain as to its timeframe for full production on its vehicles.
