With Battlefield 4 now finally released for the current generation consoles and PC, it’s high time that we focus on the next generation version of the game. However, it seems like the newest set of rumors for the game is already out, stating that the PlayStation 4 version of the game could arrive with improved game graphics of 900p from the previous 720p.
With the new game's treat-to-the-eye graphical output in the current generation consoles, there’s already a massive expectation growing among both fans and critics that the game will offer even bigger graphical output compared to that on the likes of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Recently, a NeoGaf member under the handle of thuway had some tempting information to share about the resolution of Battlefield 4 for PlayStation 4, writing:
“Battlefield 4 on PS4 is 900p on PS4. So speculation could be rampant, but this is where they are at now. Also COD Ghosts has framerate issues to be ironed out by launch. Both machines.”
“One more bit of information, but working on getting another source for that will be nigh impossible, I have informed Kagari about it,” the source further added in his post.
The current Cinemablend report has also seeked out some truth about the revelation with regards to the kinds of posts made on NeoGaF. The post states that NeoGaf “prefers that rumors have multiple sources before spouting off rumors, so as to prevent the widespread shutdown of the internet with frothy-mouthed fanboys hanging on to every single word that comes from every single 'insider' with a single anonymous source.”
“Previously, this NeoGaf rule is what had Peter Dodd, known as FamousMortimer, come forward to clarify news about Titanfall being downgraded to 720p – which was regurgitated throughout the internet gaming community – given that he only had a single source for the claim,” the post added.
While thuway has shed light on this aspect of the game, it's not the first time that both Battlefield 4 and 900p have been mentioned under the same context.
Previously, a Dualshockers report made comparisons of the game in terms of its output on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as to how the game would look on both 720p and 900p.
“In order to simulate the possible 720p and 900p resolutions of the console version I left the display resolution to 1080p, and modified the ‘resolution scale’ slider to change the resolution internally rendered by the game. That way the scene will be rendered internally at 720p and 900p, and then upscaled to 1080p, exactly like the PS4 and the Xbox One will do,” Dualshockers’ Giuseppe Nelva wrote at that time.
“There’s a slight degree of approximation here, due to the increments of the slider, but I guarantee that you’re not going to perceive the difference between 1600 x 900 pixels and 1632 x 918.”
Battlefield 4 is currently available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in North America and Europe, with versions for PS4 and Xbox One arriving later this month.
