Dark Souls 2 Beta Launch Date for North America Rescheduled

Dark Souls 2's Beta Launch Pushed to November, Namco Bandai still fixing issues

Dark Souls 2, the upcoming action RPG title from Namco Bandai, has hit a wall as according to an official confirmation from Namco Bandai. The test beta drive for the game has been rescheduled.

The beta launch date, initially planned for a launch last Sunday, Oct. 27, has now been moved to Nov. 10. Our best guess is that the company is still fixing a few final issues that might be plaguing the beta.

“Attention Dark Souls II Testers! It seems that North and South American players will not be able to log into the servers for this test,” the official tweet from Namco Bandai for the same states.

“We thoroughly apologize for all of the confusion and issues. We will be rescheduling the Network Test for another date. We know this is quite disheartening and we thank everyone for their enthusiasm,” the company further wrote.

Namco Bandai, before this eventual announcement for the game for North and South American users, had already confirmed that the beta test for North and South American PS3 users would be rescheduled after a number of players experienced trouble logging onto the game's servers.

“We're currently investigating issues players are having logging into the Dark Souls II PS3 Network Test servers - We'll have an update soon,” the company previously wrote on Twitter to confirm that the team was indeed looking into the issue.

However, for fans fearing that the issue will mess up their beta testing spots, Namco Bandai also confirmed: “Everyone who was in this test will be allowed in for the next Dark Souls II PS3 Network Test. Your spot is secure,” and that “Everyone who downloaded the client will be in for the next round.”

Dark Souls 2, said to have no direct connection with the previous Dark Souls, and will revolve around a cursed character trying to find a cure for his agony, with a more emotional story in the background.

“Dark Souls II features fluid motion-capture animations, upgraded combat system, a vastly expanded suite of characters, deeper customization options, new weapons, armor abilities, and balanced player progression system,” the official page for the game states.

“Immerse yourself into mind-bending environments filled with new twisted monsters and deadly bosses that could only come from the imagination of from software.”

Dark Souls 2 is currently scheduled to release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in March next year.
