Disney confirmed today a rumor speculated a few days ago "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will hit Chinese theaters in 2017 on January 6. That is, three weeks after its world premiere, next Thursday, December 15. What also means that possible records of billion hits will stay for next year.
The Verge reported that the film is also a part of "Rogue One: Chinese Poster." China is the second largest film market in the world, evolving in stride to become the largest of them all. Thus, Lucasfilm has been shaping up the next films of the Star Wars franchise to attract the Chinese public, who do not have the same devotion for the space saga that other products of the studio to make "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".
Proof of this is the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" billing in the country which is $125 million. CNET explained that it is great numbers, but well short of the almost billion dollars in the United States and the collection in China itself of other recent releases of the studio, such as "Zootopia," "This City is the Bug" which earned $236 million and "Captain America: Civil War" which earned $190 million. Among Lucasfilm's moves to make Rogue One more appealing to the Chinese, the lineups of Jiang Wen (Baze Malbus) and the star Donnie Yen (Chirrut Imwe) in the cast.
Diego Luna is the first Mexican hero of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and according to himself, this is the edition with the most culturally and racially diverse cast of the series. As a child, Diego grew up watching and worshiping the feature films but he had never imagined it. Today, he is the first Mexican protagonist of the "Star Wars" series in "Rogue One" and believes that the cast represents the "mirror of reality." Luna is correct when he says that the face of cinema is increasingly inclusive with a focus on representatives. Recently, a prominent black actor was brought to the fans.
