With the release of Star Wars: Rogue One Just around the corner, excitement for Star Wars is once again at a high. Star Wars Battlefront is riding the wave from the movie and thus has released a new patch to entice gamers to return to the game. The patch was released in preparation for Star Wars Battlefront's upcoming Rogue One: Scarif DLC. Playstationlifestyle.net details the patch and the included additions for Star Wars Battlefront.
The biggest addition for the update is the free VR mission. The VR mission requires the use of the Playstation VR and is a 1.8GB download. According to the blog, the free VR mission will give players a chance to participate in space dogfights with Star Wars airships. The Playstation VR will act as a helmet for the players giving players a 360° immersion while inside of an X-wing cockpit. The players are tasked with joining a squadron and jump through hyperspace to rescue a ship in distress. This will be the first VR game in the Star Wars universe.
Players who are planning to buy the Rogue One: Scarif DLC when it's released on December 20, 2016 are provided with more content. The first of the additions will be 4 new maps set on Scarif and in space above the planet.
A new game mode: Infiltration will be included in the DLC. The mode will have three phases wherein the Rebels must first breach the shield by escorting the U-wing to the shield gate. Once the ship has landed, the next objective would have players create a diversion by blowing up an Imperial cargo ship. Afterwards, the Rebels must complete the mission by stealing Imperial secrets and then escape.
2 new heroes will also be included in the DLC. The first is the Jyn Erso, the main protagonist of Star Wars: Rogue One. The other is Director Krennic who will represent the Imperial side. Both have their own special abilities to help their faction succeed. Other inclusions include new weapons, vehicles, power ups and some changes and tweaks to the main game.
