Fans need to wait more than a year longer to watch their favorite adventure of Toothless and Hiccup because it was revealed that "How to Train Your Dragon 3" is set to launch on March 1, 2019. DreamWorks Animation initially announced that the animated sequel will be released on May 18, 2018, but it was moved one more year.
However, the release date of "How to Train Your Dragon 3" will be one week before the long awaited movie of Marvel "Captain Marvel" and two weeks after an untitled "Monsters" reboot by Universal.
Director of "How to Train Your Dragon" Dean DeBlois said back in October 2014 that there are still no plans for a fourth installment of the movie. Instead, it was revealed that animated spin-offs may be developed by DreamWorks Animation.
According to Slash Film, Dean DeBlois insisted that the story of "How to Train Your Dragon" should be shown in three parts. At that time, the studio agreed and he stated in his interview that the focus of "How to Train Your Dragon 3" will be about the reason why the entire colony of dragons disappeared. This is also the same with the story told in the original book written by Cressida Cowell.
According to Coming Soon, "How to Train Your Dragon 3" original date of release should be this year, but it was moved again to May 18, 2018. Just this week, the new release date was announced and this is the third time that the studio has moved the date for "How to Train Your Dragon 3".
