Here's Summary Of Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter & YouTube Anti-Terrorist Content

Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, as well as YouTube announced their collaboration with regard to the plan of removing the spread of terrorism-related content online. Facebook and the rest of the giant companies confirmed that together they will make a shared industry database that will help in identifying such content. These include the most extreme terrorist photos and videos that have been deleted already from their their respective services.

According to the Facebook Newsroom, the content will be hashed through the use of unique digital fingerprints. Facebook explained that this is how both identification and removal can be managed more conveniently and efficiently.Basically, a piece of content is provided with a unique identifier. If any of the copies of such file is analyzed, they will also generate the same hash value.

However, terrorist videos and images will not be removed in a snap when content is found to match something in the database. Facebook and the other collaborating companies will first determine how and when content is removed based on their own policies.

Therefore, if Facebook and the other three companies are not quick enough to respond, both images and videos are more likely to circulate and be viewed online before they're totally removed. Moreover, Facebook also pointed out that personal details will never be shared.

Meanwhile, Facebook admitted that fake news is one of its problems. Facebook is rolling out one of its newest features that will prevent flagging false stories, the Facebook user. A bunch of surveys have already started popping up on Facebook. The surveys ask users how misleading an article's language.

Facebook new feature, however, does not appear to be widespread yet. But according to The Verge, it's already been spotted on stories from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Chortle, and Rolling Stone. The way of asking users to determine false stories matches the general approach of Facebook to fix its problems via algorithms.
