In a recent admission by Apple about the iPhone 6S battery issues, they confirmed the problem is now more complex than initially reported. After reports reveal that battery shutdown occurred on several iPhone 6S units, Apple through its Chinese website said, the units affected were those manufactured from September to October 2015.
Unfortunately, a follow up announcement by Apple revealed the worst; few customers outside the the affected range were also complaining about the iPhone 6S battery shutdown. One of the main reason, the units were plagued with such problem is because of their apparent exposure to controlled ambient air.
Part of the announcement states "A small number of customers outside of the affected range have also reported an unexpected shutdown. Some of these shutdowns can occur under normal conditions in order for the iPhone to protect its electronics. In an effort to gather more information, we are including additional diagnostic capability in an iOS software update which will be available next week."
According to Macrumors, the new iPhone 6S update is presumed under iOS update 10.2 and is also expected to be available next week. If the new update proves effective and users will see an increase on positive result, Apple may just launch the update on their next software update.
If you think your iPhone 6S has the same problem, or if you can confirm that the unit was made between September and October 2015, you can contact the Apple Repair Program and get your battery replaced as soon as possible.
If you are not sure whether your iPhone 6S device is affected by the battery shutdown, you can contact Apple where you can enter your device's serial number and see if its manufacturing date is within the range.
