Rajon Rondo has been known to get over emotional at times and such usually gets him into trouble. His recent verbal altercation with assistant Jim Boylen against the Dallas Mavericks coughs up a forgettable past, ironically against the very same team they were playing.
To refresh things a bit, Rondo was also caught up in an altercation with Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle. That drew a suspension but more importantly signaled the start of the end for him in Dallas, Larry Brown Sports reported. That said, could it be the same scenario for him with the Bulls?
The quick answer to that is unlikely. Apparently, Rondo’s teammate support him and understand how emotions got out of hand. The best term used by coach Fred Hoiberg and the rest is to ‘move forward’ and forget this distraction.
To his credit, Rondo did apologize for the incident which included throwing a towel Boylen’s way. Resident star Jimmy Butler that the whole fracas will not stick to Rondo as a player, someone he refers to as effectively mentoring him.
Hoiberg and Wade pretty much sound off the same thing that Butler has reasoned out. Apparently they as well as the rest of the team love Rondo as a player and teammate, with this mess likely dying down once the all-star guard gets back into the groove of things.
Rondo signed a two-year pact worth $28 million. The contract does include a $3 million buyout clause in the second year, the Chicago Tribune reported. Unless another incident comes up, there is a chance that Rondo may just take it.
For now, the goal for the Bulls is the focus and stay the course. These distractions are seen as normal and only prove how badly Rondo and the team want to win.
The Bulls are currently 11-9 in the Eastern Conference and Rondo’s absence against the Portland Trail Blazers. Chicago gets to rebound this Tuesday against Detroit Pistons.
