It seems that the ever growing superhero genre in television is about to meet its newest member as "Legion" makes his much awaited television debut set to premier next year. Legion is an upcoming American cable television series created for FX by Noah Hawley, based on a Marvel Comics character of the same name.
The upcoming series "Legion" is the first ever series that are directly connected to the "X-men" film series. It is produced by FX Productions in association of Marvel Television and 26 Keys Productions. Hawley serves as a showrunner on the series. In terms of story line there has not much information revealed however, based on the release trailers for the series "Legion" may just be the most powerful mutant depicted on screen.
"Legion" The TV series as depicted on the teaser trailer follows protagonist David Haller (Dan Stevens) who has been told his whole life that he is sick as he learns that the visions that he sees and voices that he hears might just be the manifestation of his mutant powers. To make matters worse, it seems that David has been denied help from Professor Charles Xavier School for mutants unlike other mutants within the Marvel Universe.
Needless to say, despite lack of information and details about the upcoming series, the only thing that is certain at this point is the series is already in the works. What is unclear though is if they will adapt David Haller straight from the pages of the comics where he suffers from schizophrenia and is suppose to be the son of Charles Xavier otherwise known as Professor X. David Haller in the X-men comics goes by the name "Legion" primarily because of him having different personalities, each of which possesses different mutant powers.
In addition, "Legion" in the comics is classified as an Omega Level mutant which is a classification given to those with powers that exist on such a scale that they present a threat to the world's planetary systems. A good example of that is Bobby Dake also known as Iceman. The series is set to air on February 8, 2017 at 10pm ET on FX.
