Earlier this year, Capcom released "Street Fighter 5" on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Linux, to lukewarm reviews. The game's sales over the months have indicated a general disinterest in the franchise, and the company continued to roll out new content to get gamers excited again. Now, Capcom hints at upcoming season balance changes and character additions arriving December 20 to "Street Fighter 5."
The news comes via PlayStation Lifestyle, which reports that there are some upcoming season balance changes as well as character additions coming to "Street Fighter 5" this month. The 2017 season of the game is slated to begin this December 20, and along with it, the studio's goal is to "emphasize the unique attributes of each fighter."
"Street Fighter 5" producer Peter Rosas took to the Capcom Unity blog to share some updates on the upcoming season balance changes and character additions arriving December 20. He highlighted that there was a need to change up the characters and lessen their similarities to "allow players to fully express themselves through their favorite characters."
According to Eurogamer, the upcoming season balance changes in "Street Fighter 5" involve recovery after successful throws, strong anti-air light attacks, and invincible reversal reliance. These three similarities will experience changes beginning December 20. Upcoming season balances aren't the only new additions to "Street Fighter 5" this December 20. There will also be character additions as part of the 2017 Character Pass.
"Street Fighter 5" gamers can look forward to six new characters, including Akuma, which is the first character debuting in the 2017 Character pass. According to Polygon, the pass will also feature premium battle costumes with eight unlocked colors and default costume colors 3 to 10 for every character.
