'Green Hornet' Actor Van Williams Dies at 82

Van Williams, who is known for his "Green Hornet" role in small screens, dies at the age of 82. He passed away last Monday in Scottsdale, Arizona.

His death was caused by a kidney failure. Van Williams lose one of his kidneys when he was 25 years old, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Van Williams was born in Texas in 1934. He moved away from home and became a diving instructor in Hawaii.

Before his unforgettable portrayal of the masked vigilante, Van WIlliams was discovered by producer Michael Todd in his 20s. One of his first roles includes being part of "General Electric Theater".

In 1960, he got his big break when joining the cast of "Bourbon Streat Beat", a detective show on ABC. He was then tapped to join the "Surfside 6". Van Williams also appeared in the shows "The Big Valley", "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Tycoon".

In 1966, Van Williams teamed up with Bruce Lee in the television series "Green Hornet". He was the one who brought the character Britt Reid to life.

Although the series only lasted for 26 episodes, it still became a hit to the popular culture. Van Williams also did a cameo on "Batman" alongside Lee.

Around 1973, he made a few television appearances but, still, his career stated to fade. In 1975, he starred in the series "Westwind" on NBC. Van Williams also appeared in an episode form the "Devil Pack".

Van Williams also played small parts on "Mission: Impossible", "Ironside", "Barnaby Jones" and "The Rockford Files". In 1993, he also made a cameo in "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story".

In 2010, Van Williams was invited to make a cameo appearance in the 2011 "Green Hornet" film adaptation. However, he declined the offer. Van Williams is survived by his wife along with their three daughters and five grandchildren.
