If you spend your off hours aimlessly wandering around shopping malls and stores, you may have noticed two things:
1. It's way too early for stores to already start putting up Christmas decorations. We haven't even had Halloween yet!
2. In a considerably timelier manner, certain shop staff are starting to ready themselves for the arrival of next-gen consoles from both Microsoft and Sony.
You may have seen the purdy, big display boxes atop the shelves of your local GameStop, but that's nothing compared to what super retailers like Best Buy and Target are doing.
Hawk269 shared just that on NeoGAF, who shared some pictures, one of which is seen above, showing how Best Buy will promote Microsoft's next-gen Xbox One.
As you might expect for a new console, there will be an interactive area in certain sections, where people can try out the new console. Sections nearby are planned to have additional items, likely games, accessories, etc.
"According the Media Supervisor, they should be receiving interactive displays for the Xbox One shortly, but he had not time table as to what that meant," Hawk269 wrote.
It would be likely that other retailers like Target, GameStop, Walmart, etc. are readying their own displays for Microsoft's Xbox One, as well as Sony's PlayStation 4, especially as pre-orders rise, not to mention that both consoles are set to arrive shortly before some of the biggest shopping days of the year: Black Friday and Christmas.
Leaving shelves empty waiting until for a company to provide supplies is a funny habit for a retailer, but shops like Best Buy can afford the space.
Given the sheer amount of revenue to be gained, expect to see retailers aggressively push and market Sony and Microsoft's tech toys. Not like they need to given that pre-orders from both online and traditional brick and mortar stores rise.
Microsoft's Xbox One launches on Nov. 22, and will be available in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and the United States for $499. A cross-country tour where Microsoft is demoing the system at various locations is already underway.
