Sony Entertainment confirmed the release of a new "Ni no Kuni" game series at the PlayStation Showcase. Along with the announcement was the trailer, which gave the fans a first glimpse at the gameplay of "Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom." The game is coming out exclusively for PlayStation 4 sometime in 2017.
Developed and produced by Level-5 Inc., "Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" follows the story of a boy king who was thrown out from his castle. With the help of his new friends he met along the way, King Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum attempts to claim back his kingdom. Roland, a strange visitor from some other world, will join and help King Evan with his quest.
"Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch" was released in 2013 inspired Level-5 to create a sequel game. Although "Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" bears the "II" or 2 in its title it is in fact, the fifth game in the "Ni no Kuni" game series. It's just that the game is the second one which has been developed for consoles. The other games were intended for smartphones and Nintendo DS, Gamingbolt states.
Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said that fans are to expect deeper stories and a significant graphic design improvement in "Ni no Kuni II": Revenant Kingdom. Hino admired the narrative and artistic style of Studio Ghibli's creations. However, Ghibli's participation in the development of the sequel game is still not clear. The soundtrack and the character design though are obviously of Ghibli's artworks. Studio Ghibli is the creator of acclaimed animated movies "Ponyo," "The Secret World of Arrietty" and "My Neighbor Totoro."
The "Ni no Kuni" game series is packed with too many challenging tasks getting a comment as "stupendous game," Gamespot says. The tasks are "so good" that it's not easy to quit playing. Due to this reason, the game series of "Ni no Kuni" have been evaluated as being among the best role-playing games.
