(SPOILER WARNING: Please be advised that details from the season finale for "Westworld" will be discussed in this article.)
Season 1 for "Westworld" ended with answering a lot of theories but at the same opened another set of questions for fans to speculate on. With the creators already announcing their plans for "Westworld" season 2, a trove of theories and speculations are sure to follow.
"If the first season was defined by control, the second season is defined by chaos," said co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan during the episode's " final and dramatic scene setting up the motions for "Westworld" season 2. The last episode for "Westworld" shows Ford, the park's lead architect shot dead by Dolores. It seems that Ford was the one who ordered his assassination and is part of his plan along with the new narrative the park will be hosting. "That's part of what we come to understand Ford has been planning all along" concurred Jonathan Nolan.
The one big question after the finale involves Ford's motives for the park which "Westworld" season 2 promises to address. In Ford's farewell speech during the last scene of "Westworld's" finale, he likened himself (and in a sense his death) to the classical music greats such as Beethoven. He said that Beethoven and his contemporaries never died, they simply became music)
With Ford "becoming 'Westword'", and literary changing the game, chaos will surely be the focus for "Westworld" season 2. Nolan explains that "Westworld" season 2 will explore the nature of Ford's plans. Now that hosts of "Westworld" can now harm and potentially kill the human guests, will the hosts serve as a lesson for humans of not playing the role of God?
J.J. Abrams asks the question, "What happens at the dawn of consciousness?" Co-showrunner on the other hand added to riddle by asking of the host's uprising were indeed consciousness or is it merely programming? These are the questions "Westworld" season 2 hopes to answer.
Its been seen that despite Maeve's self-awakening at first was simply a narrative for her to awaken. Dead characters from the "Westworld" are still able to impact the show as Arnold has done. So despite Ford's death in the last episode, expect him to be a presence for "Westworld" season 2.
But fans would have to wait for a while as "Westworld" season 2 is not expected to air until 2018. In the meantime fan can start searching for clues for "Westworld" season 2 in last nights recap.
