"Elementary" introduced many characters that were both loved and scorned ever since its first episode in 2012. The character of Kitty Winter (Ophelia Lovibond) is indeed one of the regular characters that helped the CBS series make a mark. While fans are sure of Winter's definite comeback in "Elementary" Season 5, reports says the next episode's release date has been delayed and will air on Dec 11.
According to CBS News, Lovibond will reprise her Kitty Winter role in "Elementary" Season 5 in the final half of the current season for not less than two episodes. The actress herself also confirmed her return to the show via one of her latest Instagram posts. Apart from this news, no other details were confirmed.
Blasting News reported that Lovibond first became Kitty Winter in "Elementary" season 3 episode 1 titled "Enough Nemesis to Go Around". She was Sherlock's (Jonny Lee Miller) newest London apprentice following the departure of Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). Winter hails from a troubled past where she was kidnapped, tortured and molested and was left with no option but to live with a stolen identity in order to escape her awful fate. Winter's most recent "Elementary" appearance was in season 3 episode 12 where she finally executed her payback plans against the man who wronged her. Subsequently, she bid Sherlock and Joan goodbye and flew back to London but will be appearing in "Elementary" Season 5.
Meanwhile, Joan's sister, Lin (Samantha Quan), is also returning to "Elementary" Season 5 via episode 6, Quan's return was confirmed by the show's co-executive producer and writer Robert Hewitt via twitter.
The on-screen chemistry of "Elementary" Season 5 lead stars Miller and Liu is undeniably one of the show's strongest feats. Viewers agree that the Miller and Liu's friendship is tight. Speculations claim that their deep bond might just develop into a romantic future. Why not?
Unfortunately, fans of Sherlock and Joan hook up should brace for disappointment. "Elementary" Season 5 writer says the series should remain faithful to its original material which keeps Sherlock and Joan's relationship strictly friendly. Liu thinks that the original "Elementary" idea is for Sherlock to always be stuck with an uncomfortable feeling around women. Do you agree?
