Following the debut of "Clone Wars" star Saw Gerrera into the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" world, fans are wondering if other characters from the animated series will appear in future live-action installments. Producer Kathleen Kennedy has enlightened fans on this matter.
According to IGN, "Star Wars" movie producer Kathleen Kennedy revealed that the idea is not to kick off the release of animated characters into the big screens. Instead, what happened with Saw Gerrera's addition to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," was mainly to improve the movie's story.
"You know, that really isn't the approach that we have," Kennedy said, referring to the insight of fans that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be spearheading the release of animated characters into the theater mainstream. "We don't sit down and start isolating a list of characters and then build stories around those," she added.
The producer further explained, "We really are starting with the stories themselves and then if some of those characters might come in to what it is we want to do or say we'll consider it then but that's not part of the strategy, no." For now, fans should watch out for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," to see how Saw Gerrera's addition will influence future movies in the "Star Wars" live-action franchise.
Meanwhile, the recent press conference for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" revealed a few hints about what should be expected of the film. CNET reports that George Lucas was pleased when he saw the film. According to the outlet, director Gareth Edwards said he was able to speak with the famous "Star Wars" creator. Lucas told Edwards after seeing the film that he can "die happy now."
Mads Mikkelsen, who plays Galen Erso in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," also dished that instead of the usual black or white theme in terms of moral standards, the upcoming movie will be something else. He explained that "Rogue One" is "gray" morally and has a more complex plot.
A big reveal was also made during the event held at the Letterman Digital and New Media Arts Center at the Lucasfilm headquarters. Darth Vader will appear in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." It has yet to be revealed why he will make an appearance, what role he will be playing, and how much air-time will be given to the iconic character.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will hit international big screens on December 16. Stay tuned for more updates!
