"MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" is in development now by Piranha Games and plans to launch the game in 2018. The announcement came at the recent concluded MechCon 2016 in Vancouver.
The development of "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" is announced at MechCon 2016 by Piranha Games president, Russ Bullock. "MechWarrior 5" is a separate game on the current "MechWarrior" online game. It is actually the first single player "MechWarrior" game that Piranha Games developed and it's due on 2018, Polygon reported.
"MechWarrior" series is set in a dystopian year where players control a single BattleMech and issue orders to AI controlled allies called lances. "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" is set on the year 3015 where the players will play a rookie MechWarrior pilot which is thrust into a combat in between Inner Sphere's five factions.
The factions are called the Great Houses that fought and quarreled for centuries and now on "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" it's in the midst of a Third Succession War. Only the "MechWarriors" pilot controlling their BattleMech fighting machines are their only chance to dominate the war.
According to PCGamer, players of "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" will not only focus on the battleground. It will let players do maintenance and enhancements to its BattleMechs depending on their choice. The game will also feature PvE Mech combat through a career-based Mercenary campaign by player's choice.
"MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" is being developed under the Unreal 4 Engine, a game development tool for game consoles and Virtual Reality. Although this might be different to new gamers, "MechWarrior 2" won Best Fantasy and Sci-Fi Game in 1995 and "MechWarrior 3" won Best Action Computer Game in 1999.
Meanwhile, there is no other information yet for the complete details of the "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" gameplay aside from what it is stated on its website. It is noticeable as well that the graphics in the trailer is not that good, but considering this is only a trailer it is still worth to wait for the game's improvement when it's released in 2018.
