John Cena is reportedly upset with WWE over its lucrative deal with Goldberg. Meanwhile, the great Hulk Hogan is expected to return in the nearest future in WWE.
Cena is not happy with Goldberg's WWE contract, according to multiple reports, including one from Cageside. Recently, there has been a friendly stiffness happening between WWE and John Cena. The tension involves the latter's projects outside WWE and the huge amount of money allegedly moving between the WWE and Goldberg.
Since his debut in 2002, John Cena has been WWE's biggest plodder. As a 39-year-old veteran, the champ is in an awkward place, yes, he is still in his prime. He is also at the early twilight of his career. Cena has never left WWE since his debut, unlike other superstars, and if he complains about a substantial amount of salary, the guys deserve it.
Perhaps, the biggest difference between Cena and the likes of Brock Lesnar and Goldberg is that Cena did not leave WWE for an extended period, unlike those two. Goldberg was gone for 12, while Lesnar was gone for eight years so their deals to return are like that of a future Hall of Famer homecoming after a long hiatus. Obviously, Cena is on the way to the Hall of Fame one day, as well.
Should Cena have left the WWE even for just a year or two, he would be in that same territory as Lesnar and Goldberg in making significant money for intermittent work. It is interesting to see if this issue eventually becomes a bigger one with Cena.
Speaking of hall of famers, there's been buzz lately about the return of the Hulk Hogan. His daughter, Brooke, is not dismissing the talks about the older Hogan's homecoming to WWE. Brooke hinted to fans that her father has a contract with WWE on his possible return. She told TMZ that her old man is still capable of anything. If Hulk Hogan does return, his presence would certainly aids Wrestlemania 33 in bridging different fans' generation gaps.
