Bungie’s upcoming open-world multiplayer offering Destiny is currently set to arrive next year, and with 2013 nearing a close, it seems like most of the big name developing companies are already revealing a number of details related to their upcoming titles. Bungie is no different.
Recently, the company decided to offer fans a sneak peek at the weapons for Destiny, and frankly, there’s a lot to choose from. Via its newest episode on the Bungie Podcast, the company went on to reveal a bit on what we might expect when the official game eventually arrives.
Bringing up a comparison with the weapons present in the previously released Halo title from Bungie, art lead Tom Doyle stated that players will be more accustomed to Destiny's weapons.
“You want those things to be intrinsic for the player. In the previous game we had the Good Guy Guns and the Bad Guy Guns, and there’s a certain amount of that in this game, but we’re trying to tell a much larger story in a much richer fiction. And the weapons are the first thing you see,” Doyle stated, as scripted by IGN.
Destiny is said to have “the largest arsenal of weapons in a Bungie game – ever,” because the company made full use of a weapon-generating program similar to Borderlands 2, that generated about 1,000,000 new and unique weapons.
Among the few weapons revealed, one of them is a scoped rifle known as The Closing Time. Also referred to as "Shut Up And Get Behind Me" and "Better Than Yours", this long ranger was displayed at the recent E3. This is a survivalist's weapon and will arrive with previous modifications made via the previous owner. And you can do the same.
Another weapon is the Duke Mk. 44, a kind of hand cannon, which offers seven rounds of magazine fire. Although a slow firing gun, it’s one of the most effective and powerful weapons in the game. Another piece of firepower arrives in the form of Gjallarhorn, a rocket launcher also known as the wolf cannon. It's a powerful and exotic weapons than can only be found once you travel through the terrain.
Destiny is currently scheduled for a release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One next year. Check out more details on the weapons here.
