After the long wait, "Aquaman" the King of the Seven Seas, will finally hit the big screens. The movie, under Warner Bros., is slated to launch on Oct. 5, 2018. Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) will give life to the superhero "Aquaman".
"Aquaman" had his cinematic debut in this year's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice", which gave fans quite the excitement. His short cameo had fans thinking and speculating on how his standalone movie will go.
The appearance of "Aquaman" in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" meant that the King of Atlantis will be joining the upcoming 2017 DC movie "Justice League," alongside Gal Gadot's "Wonder Woman" and Ezra Miller's "The Flash." "Aquaman" (Jason Momoa) will be joined by other Atlanteans Mera (Amber Heard), Queen of Atlantis, and Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe), Scientific Adviser of Atlantis.
In the film "Aquaman", Arthur Curry will be having a face off against with the seagoing superhero's mortal and most famous adversary, the Black Manta (Michael K. Williams). The Black Manta is only a human being in a suit with no innate super powers. After "Aquaman" killed his father, Black Manta will seek and plot his revenge.
The film "Aquaman" will be directed by, James Wan (Fast & Furious 7, The Conjuring Movies). According to an interview with Collider, the acclaimed director gave hints on how he sees and envisioned "Aquaman" to soar the high seas. He sees the film as a classic swashbuckling action-adventure kind of movie a la "Indiana Jones."
The direction where James Wan is taking the film "Aquaman" is certainly promising. Since it is deviating from the darker tones of DC's previous movies, "Suicide Squad" and "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice", this film will be interesting and a must-see in 2018.
The screenplay of "Aquaman" is written by Will Beal (Gangster Squad) with a touch from Geoff Johns. "Aquaman" is set to dive into production next year. For more "Aquaman" news and update, stay tuned to Gamenguide.
