What’s better than playing the newly released Grand Theft Auto 5? The option to customize features in the same game on the go, and it seems like Rockstar has now made that option a reality.
Rockstar Games has launched a brand new companion app for GTA 5 on iOS known as iFruit. The app allows players to continue to be involved with the game even when they are on a break.
As with many such game companion apps, iFruit is not just a promotional app for the game that's there just for the sake of it. On the contrary, the app is linked directly to the game, allowing players to remotely access Los Santos Customs — the game's vehicle customization shop.
Here, players can choose new paint jobs, wheels, lights, window tints, spoilers, and more such options for their car. Internal upgrades to the vehicle are also possible with players offered options to tweak the car’s engine, brakes, and suspension.
“iFruit hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction. Keep up-to-date on the latest Grand Theft Auto V news, log into the Rockstar Games Social Club, stay connected on LifeInvader and launch other Rockstar Games apps,” the official iTunes page for the app states.
Once satisfied with all the customizations and modifications, the next time the player logs into the original game and heads over to his garage, all these modifications will be waiting for the player, whether playing it on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
“Place your order on-the-go and find it waiting for you in the garage the next time you play Grand Theft Auto V, or send your order in while playing and get a call from your local mechanic to swing by,” the page adds, “Everybody’s had some work done in Los Santos, so don’t let your ride be the exception to the rule.”
However, this app features deep-seated integration, and doesn’t stop here. The app additionally allows users to train Chop, the Rottweiler present in GTA 5.
Not only will the user be able to train and feed Chop, there’s also a "happiness" meter present that will help the player see how well he’s doing. Chop's happiness in the iFruit app will directly associate with how he behaves in GTA V.
While the app is already available for iOS users via iTunes, versions for Android, Windows Phone, PlayStation mobile and PS vita will soon be available.
