The upcoming Call of Duty title – Call of Duty: Ghosts is set to arrive for both the current and the next generation. However, similar to FIFA 14’s new scheme, players will have the option to start playing on current generation consoles and then transfer all the acquired save games and data to the next generation.
As confirmed officially at the Call of Duty Community page, Call of Duty: Ghosts players will now be able to update to the next-gen editions of the game from the original current generation version. This update can happen in several ways.
The official post states that those who want to upgrade to the Xbox One version of the game can purchase a “disc-less dual license" digital version, which includes a copy of the game for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The option, made available for $69.99, will be further linked and unlocked via the user's gamertag. Moreover, this also arrives in addition to previously announced retailer deals, allowing buyers to upgrade to an Xbox One edition of Call of Duty: Ghosts for $9.99.
“Via the Game Ahead Program, players can also purchase a digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts directly from the Xbox Live Marketplace for a suggested retail price of $59.99. And, when ready to upgrade to Xbox One, you can purchase a digital Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts for a suggested retail price of just $10 on the Xbox Live Marketplace until March 31, 2014,” the official post states.
But that’s not all. There are other retail options to upgrade to the Xbox One version of the game via the likes of GameStop (both in the U.S. and European markets), Amazon (U.S.), Best Buy (U.S.), GAME (UK), and Microsoft Store (U.S.).
While GameStop, via its Power Up Rewards membership, will allow members to trade in their Xbox 360 copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts and get the Xbox One version for just $9.99 until Dec. 31, Amazon, on the other hand, until Dec. 31, will allow fans to “trade in your copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360 and get a $25 bonus credit toward your Xbox One version in addition to your trade-in value of at least $25.”
Call of Duty: Ghosts is scheduled for a Nov. 5 launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC, with the game also heading over to next generation consoles later this year. Check out the complete list of retail option for the game here.
