Apple recently lowered its production orders for the iPhone 7 as demand begin to drop. Apple fans are apparently excited about the release of the iPhone 8, although the fading interest in the iPhone 7 is allegedly expected by the company.
Factors Causing the Drop in Demand
DigiTimes reported that the introduction of the Jet Black iPhone 7, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 blunder boosted the popularity of the Apple iPhone 7, since it released in September 2016. After three months, demand for the iPhone 7 has expectedly started to fade, particularly in China.
Apple noted that its iPhone production generally goes down towards the end of each year, as users look forward to their next flagship model. Special attention is given by users this time as Apple celebrates the decade-long anniversary of the iPhone in 2017.
Due to the high anticipation for the iPhone 8, Apple expects the iPhone 7's production to decline as 2016 comes to a close. Overall, iPhone 7 shipments are believed to be about 5 million less in the first half of 2017, compared to its total shipments from September to December 2016. The numbers may also be lower than the first half of 2016.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 Specifications
GSM Arena stated that the iPhone 7 currently runs Apple A10 Fusion quad-core 2.34GHz chipset, a hexa-core GPU, and iOS 10.0.1 out of the box. It features a 4.7-inch LED display with a 750x1334 pixel resolution, 2GB of RAM and 32 to 256GB of internal storage.
The iPhone 7 also has a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 7-megapixel front shooter and 4K video recording capability. The iPhone 8 is expected to showcase major upgrades and is said to arrive in three variants with different screen sizes. There are rumors that the next iPhone will feature an OLED display, a dual-lens camera, wireless charging, glass casing and more powerful CPUs and sensors.
