"Pokemon Sun & Moon" is a revolutionary entry in the "Pokemon" series, if only because it's updated a good number of Generation 1 Pokemon to make them refreshing. Sure, there's also a lot of changes to the "Pokemon" formula, but the Alolan species are pretty significant enough to change some things you thought you might have known about Pokemon.
The new Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun & Moon" are pretty straightforward when it comes to evolution, according to GameRanx. Starters Popplio, Rowlet, and Litten evolve to their respective second stages at level 17. Brionne, Torracat, and Dartrix evolve into Primarina, Incineroar, and Decidueye at level 34. Pikipek evolves into Trumbeak at level 14, which evolves into Toucannon at level 28, while Cutiefly evolves into Ribombee at level 25. Mareanie evolves into Toxapex at level 38, while Mudbray evolves into Mudsdale at level 30.
There are some Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun & Moon" which evolve when they reach a certain level at a certain time of day. For example, Yungoos evolves into Gumshoos when it hits level 20 in the morning, while Fomantis evolves into Laurantis when it hits level 34 in the daytime. Rockruff evolves into a different version of Lycanroc depending on when it hits level 25; if it does so in the day, it goes into its Midday Form, if at night, it goes into its Midnight Form.
There are also Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun & Moon" that evolve only when you level them up at a specific location. Charjabug, which Grubbin evolves into at level 20, evolves into Vikabolt when you level it up at Vast Poni Canyon, while Crabrawler only evolves into Crabominable when it levels up in Mount Lanakila. Other special conditions include Steenee, which Bounsweet evolves into at level 18, evolving into Tsareena only after it learns Stomp at level 29. Only female Salandits evolve as well. Cosmoem, which Cosmog evolves into at level 43, evolves into Legendary Pokemon Solgaleo and Lunala at level 53 depending on which version of the game you have.
As for the Alolan versions of Generation 1 Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun & Moon," most of them change their evolution conditions. Alolan Rattata evolves into Raticate when it hits level 20 at night, while Alolan Cubone also becomes Alolan Marowak the same way, only at level 28. Alolan Vulpix and Sandshrew both now require the use of an Ice Stone to turn into Alolan Ninetales and Sandslash, while Alolan Meowth requires high happiness to evolve into Alolan Persian. Pikachu evolves into Alolan Raichu still with the use of a Thunderstone, but now you need a Leaf Stone for Exeggcute to evolve into Alolan Exeggcutor.
