Cupertino-based tech giant Apple Inc's 10th anniversary's iPhone 8 may be months away from its grand launching but it sure is now getting some of its much-needed buzz, just enough to generate more consumers to its side. Now, the latest sound bite this time does not come from its purported features and specifications like the bezel-less aspirations similar to Xiaomi Mi Mix or the heavily speculated home button-less entries. Various rumor mills are now indicative that the forthcoming entry is set to shatter some significant sales records previously held by its sibling offering, no less.
9to5Mac has revealed that Apple is slated to produce 120 million to 150 million iPhones during the second half of 2017, in which iPhone 8 is tipped to be launched. The said volume would automatically break all previous sales, including that of the phablets from the iPhone 6 roster.
The staggering number of planned units comes as no surprise to many as previous information has surfaced — all signaling that Apple is indeed on all fours in providing the latest and more advanced specifications its 10th year anniversary's iPhone 8 could ever have. The latest of these rumors were generated by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who revealed that about three new iPhones with a wireless charging functionality are set to arrive in 2017.
Further, Kuo has shared that iPhone 8 could include variants with one of which toting a major redesign. Meanwhile, the other two offerings might still refresh the similar specifications the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have outed last September, with some significant upgrades of course.
iPhone 8 variants could also come with glass chassis and a flexible screen. Alongside these, the upcoming entries have also been associated with OLED screens and may be equipped without the traditional home button. Apple has sold between 110 million and 120 million iPhone 6 phablets back in 2014. The phablets featured a significant overhauling and were the first to tout a bigger display in the roster.
