"Blindspot" Season 2 will finally reveal why Jane has a tattoo of Kurt Weller's name on her back. Series creator Martin Gero said answers about Kurt's connection to Sandstorm will come out from Jane's tattoos.
Martin Gero said that midseason episodes in "Blindspot" Season 2 will tackle everything there is to know about Jane's tattoos. This means the clues for the cases the FBI will solve will still come out from her tattoos. So far, Jane's tattoos have been the driving element in the series.
Most importantly, Gero said that Jane's tattoos will answer why of all the FBI agents, she has Kurt Weller's name tattooed on her back. They will ultimately confirm if Kurt has a connection to Sandstorm, as teased in the first half of "Blindspot" Season 2.
"A lot of the question you've asked -- like, why the tattoos, what's Shepherd's endgame -- a lot of the big mythology questions are going to be answered in these next 13 episodes," Martin Gero told TV Guide in an interview about the midseason episodes in "Blindspot" Season 2.
In the same interview, the showrunner teased a big reveal in the season finale of "Blindspot" Season 2. There is a plot twist that could potentially stir towards a Season 3. Of course, Gero did not reveal details about this twist in the story or any more details about what Jane's tattoos would reveal.
However, Gero likewise hinted that Kurt Weller's connection to Sandstorm is the major lead in the second half of the season. The midseason episodes in "Blindspot" Season 2 take off with finding out why Kurt is important to the group.
The remaining 13 episodes in "Blindspot" Season 2 will reveal why Sandstorm has been watching him since he was a kid. Gero said the second half of the instalment moves forward with finding out why Sandstorm think it is important to protect Kurt Weller and have his name as a tattoo on Jane's back.
