Rapper/record producer Kanye West has reportedly been allowed to go home more than a week after he was admitted to hospital for what sources have called a case of exhaustion. The Grammy winner checked out of the UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles, where he had been under observation since Nov. 22.
The "Famous" singer was reportedly accompanied by his wife, reality TV personality Kim Kardashian West, and his doctor, Michael Farzam, when he left the hospital. According to CNN, sources have said that Kim Kardashian West was at the artist's bedside throughout his confinement.
Kanye West had been on the road for his Saint Pablo Tour when he was admitted to the UCLA Medical Centre. The Los Angeles Police Department had reportedly responded to a disturbance call involving the "Gold Digger" singer but later announced that the call had been for a "medical emergency."
The day before he was taken to the hospital, Live Nation, the singer's promoter, announced that the rest of his concerts for the Saint Pablo Tour had been cancelled. The news came after a string of concert stops in which West had acted bizarrely. CNN says that during a performance in San Jose, California on Nov. 17, Kanye West ranted about racism, spoke about his support for President-elect Donald Trump, and announced that he had not voted.
Two nights after, Kanye West ended his concert in Sacramento after performing just a couple of songs, after which he went on a lengthy free-associative rant about politics, radio shows, Facebook, and Hilary Clinton. He also called out his friends/fellow singers Jay Z and Beyoncé. The following day, Kanye West abruptly cancelled a concert in Los Angeles just hours before it was scheduled to begin.
In an interview with Extra last week, Kris Jenner, West's mother-in-law, said that the singer was merely "exhausted." "He's just really tired," the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star explained. "He's had a grueling tour and it's been a grind, so he just needs to rest."
Earlier this week, an unnamed source told People that West typically has "big ups and big downs" but that his recent "bout" appears to be "much more serious." "In the hospital he has been very paranoid and is under constant watch for his safety," the informant said.
