‘Halo for Xbox One’ leaked via Microsoft – New details emerge

Microsoft’s presence in this year’s E3 wasn't the biggest surprise, as Microsoft’s presence was heavily linked to an announcement related to the next Halo title. Happily enough, Microsoft did deliver, announcing a new Halo game for the Xbox One console, although nothing more was revealed after that. However, that seems to have changed.

Recently, Microsoft’s online web store “accidentally” leaked some more new details about the game, providing a first look at some of the story-related stuff for the new Halo. The site contained a brief, condensed synopsis for the upcoming game.

“Halo for Xbox One takes the now-legendary saga to new heights and is one of the most anticipated games for the new console. In possession of a mysterious data chip, Petty Officer John-117, aka Master Chief, confronts a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted. Pre-order the next chapter in the wildly popular Halo series designed exclusively for Xbox One,” the description stated before it was removed.

Again, this is not really enough to follow up on the new game and it only shows that the developers will stick to the narrative theme of the game as it has been previously done for the titles in the series.

However, in a new turn of events, according to a Destructoid report, "Microsoft has commented on the listing, stating that it is 'completely inaccurate and not provided by 343 or Microsoft.'"

Prior to this, the next Halo title came into news after Microsoft exec Phil Spencer explained back in June why Halo 5 (or the next Halo) was announced for Xbox One so early with so little information. Spencer told IGN at that time that previous games in the series usually appeared in at least two Electronic Entertainment Expo events before officially released.

“I didn’t really want to try to show something that was clearly a thought piece by the studio around where Master Chief is in his journey, and then drop the name after it and be somewhat disingenuous about that being the game,” he added.

Later, as if contradicting his own statement, Spencer further added: “But I did want Bonnie to come out and say, ‘First-person shooter. Master Chief.’ Because they’ll get the questions – ‘Hey, is this ODST? What are you guys doing?’ Bonnie comes out and reaffirms that 343 is building this game. It’s Master Chief. It’s a first-person shooter at 60 frames per second. It’s coming in 2014.”

We are yet to receive any confirmed details, let alone a probable release date for the next Halo.
