The "Y Tu Mama Tambien" actor will play as one of the lead characters in "Star Wars: Rogue One." According to Yahoo Movies, his character is named Capt. Cassian Andor who works for the Rebellion. Diego Luna is in charge to go on a mission with Jyn Erso. His character, he mentioned, has a lot of secrets and will fight for his cause until the very end.
Diego Luna also mentioned that he really admire Capt. Cassian Andor for fighting for freedom, he also added that he is a very interesting character. Furthermore, Diego Luna felt like he had prepared for his role in "Star Wars: Rogue One" all his life.
The upcoming "Star Wars: Rogue One" is rumored to be a heist film. According to a report by Cinema Blend, the rebels will steal the plans from the Death Star so the Rebels can blow it up. It will be tied up to "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" where the Rebels successfully blew up the Death Star. Diego Luna will play a key role during the whole plot.
The film was reported to be a non-saga have no connection to the trilogy that J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson made. "Star Wars: Rogue One" is going to be directed by Gareth Edwards. The director mentioned that the movie will take place after the events from "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" so there will only be a few Jedis. "Star Wars: Rogue One" is set to be released on December 16, 2016.
