Alien: Covenant Rumors And Updates: The "Space Jockey" Returns

In celebration of director Ridley Scott's 79th birthday, a picture from his upcoming movie Alien: Covenant was tweeted by 20th Century Fox. Alien: Covenant is the latest entry in the Alien franchise that will help bridge Prometheus with the first Alien movie in 1979.

The picture shows Ridley Scott on the set of Alien: Covenant next to something fans of the series are familiar with. The set closely resembles the "space jockey" found in the 1979 movie Alien. But with the angle shown, its not clear whether the Engineer that is supposed to be seated is present or not. If the engineer is indeed sitting on the chair, then this will prove of Alien: Covenant's connection with the abandoned spaceship found on LV-426. This is where the "space jockey" was found in the 1979 movie where the engineer is seated. However, if the engineer is not present, then fans would have to wait for Alien: Covenant for more clues on the connection.

Nonetheless, the picture still proves Ridley Scot's gift for set production. His aesthetic and vision is still clearly seen despite Ridley Scott blocking a portion of the view. Alien: Covenant is looks to be in good shape with the director on board.

Alien: Covenant will star Michael Fassbender, who is returning as Prometheus's android David along with newcomers Katherine Waterson  Demian Bichir and Danny Mcbride. The film is scheduled for release on May 19, 2017.

Lead actor Michael Fassbender has said that he has two roles in Alien: Covenant. The first will be his original android character from Prometheus and a new version of the android named Walter that will be introduced in the new movie. "I am allowed to say I am playing two robots: Walter and David," said Michael Fassbender. He also praised the director of Alien: Covenenant saying that Scott Ridley has "gone back to the original DNA of Alien, the horror element of that." He also commented that Alien: Covenant will have the same scope and scale of Prometheus although Ridley has edited Alien: Covenenant already.

Alien is the legendary sci-fi franchise that gave birth to H.R. Giger's grotesquely beautiful creation the Xenomorph. Fans will again catch the Xenomorph in theaters on May 19, 2017 when Alien: Covenenant debuts. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.
