Microsoft introduced the upcoming Xbox One earlier this year, but fans and critics alike quickly fell out of love with the console following the numerous restrictions and policies. While the company managed to alter those policies in the wake of fan unrest, it has also made sure that it would grow some goodwill toward the console with regular showings at the previous E3 and Gamescom. Now it seems like Microsoft is ready to reveal even more at this year's PAX.
Microsoft will be present at this year’s PAX where it will look to headline upcoming titles such as Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5, and Killer Instinct, with a promise that all these titles will be playable on the showfloor. But that’s not all, as Microsoft has also stated that it still has a few surprises up its sleeves for all the fans attending the event.
Major Nelson, picking up the topic of Microsoft’s presence at PAX, recently teased in a blog post: “And of course there will be other surprises at the booth, including games that I’m not at liberty to divulge . . . yet.” And this is surely the sign of more new things to arrive at the PAX from the Microsoft front.
The blog also states that fans who attend the PAX Prime this year, “will be among the first to play 'Ryse: Son of Rome’s' co-op multiplayer experience: Gladiator mode.” Similar is the case with North American fans having a chance “to go hands-on in the ‘Forza Motorsport 5’ pits and experience this year’s biggest automotive journey starring the world’s greatest cars and tracks. This is your chance to experience the all-new physics engine and take one of the fastest cars in the world, the McLaren P1 on the fan-favorite Laguna Seca race track.”
There is also the Halo 4 Global Championships to look forward to at PAX this year. A post from the Halo Waypoint states: “The battle continues at PAX Prime with the Halo 4 Global Championship powered by Virgin Gaming at Benaroya Hall! Come check out the tournament all weekend long and witness the world’s best ‘Halo’ players battle to claim the title of ‘‘Halo 4’ Global Champion’ and the coveted $200,000 (USD) grand prize.”
But Microsoft is not alone in this regard. Even Sony is preparing for the PAX with the company already revealing its plans for the event that’s ahead. The Official PlayStation Blog states that PAX Prime attendees will have a chance to acquire an exclusive PlayStation 4 Passport, and that this exclusive collector’s item will help fans win some cool PlayStation prizes over the course of the weekend and this includes copies of the titles they played at PAX.
It is to be noted that there are only 500 Passports available per day. PAX Prime is set to be held all through this weekend.
