Rey was one of the new characters introduced in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and fans have been intrigued with her what her back story could be. But more than that they are also wondering just how significant Rey will be in the "Star Wars 8", the second installment in the planned sequel trilogy.
Some reports claim that Daisy Ridley's character Rey is the most important character, perhaps even more than Luke Skywalker, in "Star Wars 8" and have cited several reasons why. Of course the first reason has to do with where Rey is really from. Several theories have been given, and the most popular theory is that Rey is the daughter of Luke Skywalker.
Given his failed attempt to revive the Jedi Order, many fans of "Star Wars 8" have claimed that he left Rey in Jakku in order to protect her. Another theory is that Rey is actyally a royal princess from one of the planets destroyed by the First Order prior to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Again she was saved and sent to the desert planet for her safety. Some are saying that the name Rey is not a coincidence, given that it means king in Spanish. Does her name allude to her royal roots?
The next reason comes from Screen Rant, which claims that a leak from what will be the trailer for "Star Wars 8" has been found and it contains a significant line from none other than Luke Skywalker himself. It will be remembered that in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", Luke was not seen in much of the film, people just spoke highly of him but no one saw him until the last scenes when Rey finally found him in exile and proceeded to hand him his light saber.
Now someone claimed that in a leaked trailer for "Star Wars 8", Luke Skywalker uttered "You contain the spark that will rekindle the fire." He said it to Rey, which just signifies her importance. Perhaps Luke is putting his hopes on the young woman, who despite not being trained, is very sensitive to The Force?
