Capcom’s upcoming zombie hack-n-slash fest Dead Rising 3 has more new details. According to reports, the upcoming Xbox One exclusive will allow players to craft their own custom vehicles, something similar to what fans were already doing all this while in the franchise – but only with in-game weapons.
While we all understand as to actually how wacky the in-game weapons in the Dead Rising franchise can turn out to be, thanks to our twisted brains, it’s a treat to know now that we can do the same kind of “modifications” to the vehicles in the game. More blood on the horizon? Probably.
At Microsoft's pre-Gamescom Xbox Showcase, IGN managed to find out that the crafting system doesn’t stop at weapons this time, but goes a step ahead by being included in the in-game vehicles. The report adds that players will need to find a blueprint of the vehicle in question first and at least two other related components before they can finally turn their beautiful dreams of hacking the undead in the most gruesome ways into reality.
“Why mow down zombies with a boring old motorcycle, Lambourghini or bulldozer, after all, when you could spice it up a little? Combo vehicles work in much the same way as combo weapons – find a blueprint that lets you mash two things together to make them even better,” IGN states.
As an example, IGN puts forth concept of RollerHawg, which is actually a combination of motorcycle and steam roller together with spikes and flamethrowers. “In short, it's a rolling wheel of motorcycle-powered death with spikes and twin flamethrowers. If you saw yesterday's bad-ass CG trailer then you've already got a fair idea what this vehicle is about – turning crowds of zombies into a fine red mist – and that's exactly what it's like when you're behind the wheel.” It adds: “Any stragglers? A few blasts from the flamethrowers sorted them out.”
Similar to the weapons lockers that let players create “any previously-created combo or found weapon,” garages are meant to follow the same route for vehicles and related vehicle combos. The aim here is to let the fans play with the weapons and vehicles they want.
“The Roller Hog wasn't the only combo vehicle we got to try out today. The Junk Car fires cannisters of noxious gas, as well as explosive propane tanks. Best of all, however, players can set it to self destruct. A crowd of zombies ahead? Gun it towards them, activate the self-destruction timer and bail out,” the report adds.
Dead Rising 3 is currently set to arrive as an Xbox One exclusive and will be launching alongside the console sometime in November.
