Nina Dobrev Returns

"The Vampire Diaries" saw Elena Gilbert, the main character portrayed by Nina Dobrev, having an open-ended fate during the finale of Season 6. This allows for the return of the character in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. With the series finally concluding this season, many fans are clamoring for the actress to return, whether she plays Elena or Katherine.

It has been hinted, however, that Dobrev might return to "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 as Katherine, so as to avoid any scenes with ex-boyfriend and show lead actor Ian Somerhalder.
