Finally there's some official news related to Arma 3, the massively popular open world shooter from Bohemia Interactive. According to reports, Bohemia interactive has announced that it will release the final version Arma 3 for PC on Sept. 12.
Arma 3, on release, will include it’s famed expansive environmental and terrain settings with the 270 square kilometer Altis, and the 20 square kilometer Stratis. There’s also 12 single player matches with nine multiplayer scenarios, three faction showcases, 10 firing maneuvers, over 20 vehicles and 40 weapons, five factions to choose from, and the scenario editor.
The Altis is considered the star of Arma 3. “From expansive cities to rolling hills, from wind farms to solar farms, whether steamrolling your tank across the southern plains, or waging asymmetric warfare from the northern hills, the Altis landscape lends itself to some of the most detailed locales and varied engagements,” the official page states.
The Stratis, on the other hand, offers rugged terrain, expansive forests and a man-made airbase, with a wealth of different options to wage war. Players can also look to take the aerial route in an attack helicopter, or fight on foot across the “near-future battlefield.”
Arma 3 kicks off after years of intense warfare against Eastern armies, where Europe has become the last stand for the battered NATO forces. Now on the verge of being driven into the sea, the NATO command decides to launch one of the most desperate measures to stay in contention.
In the hope of seizing what seems to be a well-guarded military secret, accordingly, Operation Magnitude is launched, with a small group of Special Forces and Researchers being sent to a Mediterranean island deep behind enemy lines.
However, the mission is compromised and the task force destroyed, leaving Cpt. Scott Miller washed ashore upon the hostile island. In Miller’s massive effort to carry out the mission successfully, he will now face the dangers of the war, a merciless environment, and every decision of his that will have a consequence of their own.
Players, while in the game, will have the added advantage of using different weapons-based customizations that will prove necessary for survival. “Customize your weapons and gear to suit your needs on the battlefield."
"Add a scope to your rifle to assist with long-range engagements, or attach an infra-red laser to silently designate targets to nearby friendly forces. Grab a backpack for extra carrying capacity, but be careful not to become overburdened,” the page adds.
