‘Star Wars: Episode 8' News, Plot Spoilers: Why Obi Wan Kenobi Could Appear To Rey

"Star Wars: Episode 8" might see Ewan McGregor return as Obi Wan Kenobi. Recent reports claimed the sequel might have Obi Wan references or he could return as a Force Ghost.

It has long been speculated that Obi Wan Kenobi would appear in any of the "Star Wars" saga. He was initially expected to appear in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Ewan McGregor did return to voice his character for a one-line dialogue, but he did not appear in the flesh as Obi Wan.

Now, there are speculations that the Jedi Master appears in "Star Wars: Episode 8." There may be references to the character in the sequel, because of his familial connection to Rey (Daisy Ridley).

Entertainment Weekly writer Anthony Breznican belies that Rey is a member of Obi Wan Kenobi's family. He could appear in the flesh to Rey in "Star Wars: Episode 8" to tell her about her lineage, or his name might popped up in the film during conversations.

Breznican told Rebel Force Radi0 (via Movieweb) that he is confident that the Jedi Master will return on-screen. If not in "Star Wars: Episode 8" then in "Star Wars: Episode 9." This is supposedly the reason why Disney and Lucasfilm still has not confirmed the rumored Obi Wan Kenobi spinoff movie, because the studios still plan to put him in any of the "Star Wars" saga movies.

Likewise, there are speculations that Obi Wan Kenobi could appear as Force Ghost in "Star Wars: Episode 8." This has been a long-standing speculation even before the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Perhaps Obi Wan Kenobi returns as a Force Ghost, when he teaches Rey about the ways of The Force. Regardless, these are merely claims, although Ewan McGregor is open to reprising Obi Wan Kenobi again in any of the "Star Wars" saga films.
