CONSOLES

Bethesda not really keen on any Wii U release

While nothing remains constant in the gaming industry with new details, releases and rumors arriving almost every day to draw a complete different picture, it seems like the only thing that's actually constant is Nintendo's battle in the industry to keep its not-so-popular Wii U console afloat. And while we wait to find out as to how long Nintendo can continue doing that, top developer Bethesda has yet again confirmed that it has no plans with the Wii U at the moment.

Seriously, Nintendo could do with a bit of help from Bethesda at the moment. Bethesda, of course, has a number of top-notch titles in development.

Bethesda's VP of public relations and marketing, Pete Hines, recently spoke with Joystiq, and reminded everyone that the company is not looking to include Nintendo's Wii U in its plans any time soon. As far as a concrete reason for this is concerned, Hines stated that all this is "largely a hardware thing," and that as of now the company's primary focus is to "make the games that we want to make, on whatever platforms will support them as developed."

"None of the game's we've announced are being developed for the Wii U, so it's guaranteed that none of those games are coming to Wii U," Hines told Joystiq at the recently concluded QuakeCon, with regards to The Elder Scrolls OnlineWolfenstein: The New Order and The Evil Within. "Will any future ones come out? I can't say for sure, in our near-term focus it's not on our radar."

As an example, Hines said that The Elder Scrolls Online was more likely to be released on the Xbox 360, but that it "just wasn't possible" due to certain hardware limitations. Keeping any future announcements in mind for the Wii U, Hines said that "it remains to be seen what the future holds" both for the console and if Bethesda will go ahead and release a few titles for the Nintendo-based console.

Nintendo, of late, has been in a constant tug-of-war with several third party developers, and this has resulted in a lack of titles for the system that have already been confirmed for the likes of PlayStation and Xbox.

Moreover, the company has also faced problems with even selling its gaming hardware as lack of notable titles on the cards has made a lot of potential buyers hold back their money in the last minute and decide against buying the Wii U.
