Although Ubisoft’s upcoming open world hackathon Watch Dogs is one of the most massively anticipated titles of the year, the game did run into a fair bit of complications after the previous Aisha Tyler trailer didn’t really match up to anyone’s expectations. However, Ubisoft is aware of the situation and has come up with a brand new clarification for that.
“I see the game every day and I can tell you, this trailer is far from it,” creative director Jonathan Morin wrote on Twitter. He went on to add that this wasn’t the current generation version of the game as that version “is better than that.”
“You know sometimes 100s of people working together causes communications issues lets just say that. Its simply someone who don’t know the tech who check the wrong stuff.” He also stated that it “was indeed hilarious in its own way I guess,” while also clarifying that an “unfinished game remains unfinished. But we still want to show the real thing each time. It must be real,” when linked with the time when the game was played by Jimmy Fallon on the PlayStation 4.
As far as in-game visuals are concerned, Morin stated that the game’s PlayStation 4 version is “millions of miles away” from the now controversial video, while the Wii U version “should be fine” if it’s looking to outperform both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Watch Dogs is set in Chicago, where a central network of computers connects everyone and everything, with the game exploring the impact of technology on our modern society. “Using the city as your weapon, you will embark on a personal mission to inflict your own brand of justice,” the official page states.
“Chicago's overarching network is known as the Central Operating System (ctOS), and it controls almost all of the city's technology and information - including key data on all of the city's residents.” The player gets to act out the role of Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker and former thug, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy.
Watch Dogs is scheduled to arrive this November for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360, with versions of the game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 arriving in the fourth quarter of 2013.
