Warner Bros. explains lack of multiplayer mode for Batman: Arkham Origins for Wii U

Nintendo has its share of problems with its Wii U console. While the Wii U has been around for some time now, it hasn't really managed to impress fans nor developers. With the lack of interest, developers didn't see it fit to release their titles on the console. However, Warner Bros.' upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins is indeed set for the console, but with a certain catch.

According to reports, while Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on the Wii U, the game's recently revealed multiplayer mode is set to skip the Wii U platform entirely. Warner Bros recently confirmed this information.

The company decided against introducing the multiplayer mode of the game for the Wii U and stated that its decision to not include a multiplayer mode in the game's Wii U version is due to the fact that the company had decided to focus its efforts on the platforms that actually boast a considerable multiplayer audience.

"MP will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC," a Warner Bros. spokesperson told Eurogamer. "The team is focusing development efforts on platforms with the largest MP audience." So this means that only Wii U fans suffer as things go per schedule for the likes of Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

While we are in no position to debate right from wrong and what maybe the other reasons for Warner to not introduce the game's multiplayer mode for the Wii U, it has to be said that the new confirmation is a bit hard on Wii U, especially when the full game is already set to arrive on the Wii U. Given this much, how hard it would be for the company to port the multiplayer mode over as well?

The lack of the multiplayer mode is another blow to Nintendo's aspirations and ambitions. The new confirmation also comes in a time when Nintendo has announced that the Wii U had sold an unimpressive 160,000 consoles globally in the three months following the end of June this year. On a whole, the Wii U has now sold 3.61 million units worldwide.

Batman: Arkham Origins, the third installment in the massively praised Batman: Arkham series, developed by Warner Bros. Montreal, will hit Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii U in the later part of the year.
