If there's anything players can give credit to "Overwatch" developer Blizzard for, it's their constant dedication to balance and a great gameplay experience. This is why they've decided to overhaul "Overwatch" support character Symmetra ahead of a huge update, and while the big revamp was announced a couple of months ago, it's now live.
The new Symmetra is now available to play on "Overwatch"'s Patch Test Realm as of a few days ago, reports Express. A new "Overwatch" update gives Symmetra two Ultimate abilities: the first, her original Teleporter Ultimate, is retained, while a second Ultimate allows her to create a Shield Generator that protects allies within a radius. Because this makes her Photon Shield regular ability redundant, that ability has been replaced by a Photon Barrier, which blocks incoming fire much like D.Va's Shield Matrix.
These changes were made in order to increase Symmetra's viability in the late game. Blizzard found that the Teleporter wasn't always the best ability to use in most "Overwatch" scenarios, so they gave her another Ultimate that increased her utility.
Other than Symmetra's new abilities, minor tweaks were made to her stats, and tank character Zarya was also slightly tweaked for balance changes in the latest "Overwatch" update. This overhaul of Symmetra follows the introduction of new offensive hero Sombra, who had been teased for the game for months. Blizzard says that other than Sombra, they have two other hero ideas they're developing for the game.
News Every Day also reports rumors of Blizzard bringing a new Oasis map to a future PlayStation 4 and Xbox One update of "Overwatch." Now that Sombra and the new Symmetra have been released to the public, this frees up the "Overwatch" development team to work on other things for the game. Let the speculation of who and when new characters will appear begin.
